                                                     Hours

New weekend hours will take effect May 1st 2010.

*Mon - Fri     8:00 am - 12:00 pm     Reopen  4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
  Saturday     8:00 am - 10:00 am     Reopen  4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

  Sunday       9:00 am - 10:00 am     Reopen  4:30 pm - 5:15 pm

*Our business hours have changed.  We will close at 12:00 Noon on weekdays (10:00am on weekends) and then we will reopen from 4:30 to 5:30pm.  We have tried something new this summer.  We let the dogs play outside or in the playroom from 8:00am to 12:00pm straight. They had a wonderful time, were very tired and ready for a nap.  We have started asking customers to come in before Noon or later in the afternoon to conduct business.  We have found that the dogs were less stressed and more relaxed to have a nap time.  More sleep and less stress has caused their immune system to stay stronger while boarding and they are not prone to becoming sick while staying with us.  Thank you for understanding this change and helping us keep K-9 Acres the best place to care for your pet around.

Even though we are only open to the public a few hours on Sundays or Holidays (Not open Thanksgiving or Christmas) for pickup and dropoff  - Your pets will still be cared for by the owner 3 times per day.

Charges start on the day you check your pet in.

If you check your pet out by 12 Noon then you will not be charged for that day.  Absolutely no pickups or drop offs after hours.

Charges are based on weight.  We will weigh your pet upon check-in and check-out.

                                       Making Reservations

We reserve the right to turn away:                                                                          aggressive dogs to humans or other dogs - escape artists - pets with internal or external parasites - ill pets - dogs whom we believe will not do well in a boarding situation - any customer whom we think that we will not be able to please no matter what

We do our best to care for your pets.  Some dogs really require baths before pickup because they are extremely active and must fingerpaint everywhere when they get the chance.  Other dogs don't sleep well in a different environment other then home.  Some can get diarrhea do to the change in food or being stressed.  Dogs who are not used to other dogs will be stressed and not do well.  Other dogs get anxious because they can feel that their owners are.  Some bark constantly.  But the majority of them love to come and visit which helps them do extremely well.

K-9 Acres is located 4 miles west on Hwy 51 from Tahlequah towards Hulbert.  Turn west  on the Hwy 51 bypass between Walmart and Hollywood Video. Go about two miles on the bypass until you come to the 2nd intersection stop light.  Turn left (west) at that stop light.  You will now be across from the airport and on the Highway 51 two lane.  As soon as you turn onto the two lane from the stoplight intersection you go exactly 4.5 miles towards Hulbert.  K-9 Acres is off the left side (south side) of Hwy 51.  There is a Brown Sign with gold lettering off the highway.  Turn on our private drive and you will see our huge pet resort at the bottom of the hill.

** The Bordetella vaccine is to prevent kennel cough and is administered every 6 months through intranasal or injection at least two weeks prior to boarding. You must request this vaccine from your vet, because it is not always given at annual exams.  Kennel cough is a highly contagious virus (similar with the flu in humans) spread from dog to dog through the air.  Kennel cough is not always life threatening, unless in extremely old pets or with weak immune systems.  Your pet may still catch kennel cough from other dogs even though they have had the vaccine.  It will just be a very mild form.  Kennel Cough will cause your dog to have a deep hacking cough and nasal discharge that may last for 1 week and will just need to run it course.   The only way to help prevent the spread of Kennel Cough in a Kennel, Day Care or Grooming Salon is to make sure all dogs have the vaccine.  We will be happy to discuss other bordetella vaccine options with you.
